Old heat only boiler & hot water cylinder converted to combi boiler system
The old boiler we removed was an Ideal Concorde, which was used for the central heating, and used in conjunction with a copper cylinder in the airing cupboard for hot water. As this boiler was over 40 years old, parts had become obsolete, so a replacement was necessary.
I advised the customer to swap from their old system to a combi boiler, as it has created additional storge space in the airing cupboard, and meets the hot water demands of this small 3 bed 1 bathroom apartment.
The wall behind where the boiler was sited in the kitchen was crumbling away due to the age, so before installing the new boiler in place, I removed all the old crumbling plaster, screwed a thick sheet of 25mm plywood to the wall and painted it white. Not only does this vastly improve the appearance of the boiler area, but also provides a great fixing for the boiler to be mounted on.
